Yerba Mate
Yerba Mate
You asked and we delivered! Yerba Mate (AKA South America's green tea) is made from the leaves of the Ilex Paraguariensis plant, it's an invigorating tea bursting with antioxidants. It's a caffeinated beverage, typically more caffeinated than black tea and less than coffee, however this varies depending on how you brew it! There's a myriad of ways to brew your Mate, traditonally it's drank out of a gourd through a bombilla (a spoon-like straw), but you needn't run out and purchase a mate set to give this a go, you can also use a french press or a tea strainer to steep your leaves, here's a helpful guide to brewing. You can even experiment by steeping it with herbal teas for a twist on the flavour, we think our Berry Berry tea would be a match made in heaven!
Our Yerba Mate hails from Brazil and is organically grown. It's herby, grassy, earthy and well rounded, slightly bitter in a way akin to green tea.
